Amaterasu-Ōmikami, the Sun Goddess

Amaterasu-Ōmikami, the Sun Goddess

⛩ This shrine in Fukuoka, Kyushu, is dedicated to Amaterasu-Ōmikami, the Sun Goddess.
Its head shrine is Ise Grand Shrine in Mie Prefecture. There, the “Daily Morning and Evening Offering Ceremony” (Hinsetsu Chōseki Ōmikami Matsuri) has been performed without interruption for over 1,500 years 😌 Every morning and evening, meals are offered to the deities.

Even today, Ise is famous as a production area for Ise Tea. Its deep history comes from the pure sacred water of the shrine lands and the unique misty morning climate (terroir) — perfect conditions for growing exceptional tea. For centuries, this tea has been used in Shinto rituals and to warmly welcome shrine visitors.☺️

While rice, salt, water, and fish are offered daily, tea has also been carefully cultivated within the vast sacred grounds and “Misono” gardens specifically to be offered to the gods.
