Culture introduced by people from mainland China

The Hata clan is said to have arrived in Japan from mainland China.

While the common theory is that they entered Kyushu via the Korean Peninsula, there’s another fascinating possibility: that they traveled through the Ryukyu Islands, Amami, and the Tokara Islands before heading north to Kagoshima. 🌸✍️

In Okinawa, the heart of spiritual life is the concept of "Marebito" (visiting deities)—gods who arrive from "Niraikanai," a paradise across the sea, to bring abundance to the people.

I feel a deep resonance here, as the Hata clan were also "travelers from across the sea" who brought life-changing technology and faith to Japan. 🤔

The Hata clan introduced advanced hydraulic engineering, such as dikes and irrigation systems. It’s no coincidence that Uji, Kyoto—world-famous for its tea—sits right in an area where the Hata clan managed these high-quality water sources.

Tracing the history of Okinawa leads me to the Hata clan, and studying the Hata clan leads me back to tea. 🍵

When we look at the world with a broader perspective, we begin to see how everything is beautifully interconnected.
