Nemophila Born in America ❁⃘
Matcha Born in Japan 🍵
Nemophila is an annual plant native to California 🌱(It completes its entire life cycle — from seed to sprout, flower, seed production, and withering — all within one year.) 🪻
Its name comes from the Greek words “nemos” (forest) and “phileo” (to love).
It originally grew wild around bright forest edges. ✨
Nemophila was introduced to Japan during the Meiji era. At first, it was mainly grown in pots 🙄
It became hugely popular in the 2000s when Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki covered entire hills with Nemophila flowers.
The breathtaking scenery went viral on SNS, and it has been a beloved spring tradition ever since 🧸
On the other hand, tea first came from China in the early 9th century. It began to be cultivated in temples in Kyoto, where monks drank it during breaks in their training 🐼
It was exported to America in the 1800s 🚢💨
Today, Japan’s matcha has become the most popular in the world 😊
An American-born flower that became a hit in Japan, and a Japanese-born tea that conquered America. 🌱
We are truly grateful for the blessings of nature that travel across borders. (ㅅ´꒳`)
Right now in Japan, Kuju Flower Park in Kumamoto (Kyushu) is in full bloom! 🤭
