Why Yame Tea is So Special
Yame (Fukuoka Prefecture) produces some of Japan’s most premium green teas — especially Gyokuro and Matcha. Here’s what makes it unique:
🌱 Yame Tea’s Signature Method
Instead of harvesting many small buds, Yame farmers deliberately pluck fewer new shoots.
By reducing the number of buds, the tree concentrates all its nutrients and energy into fewer leaves.
This results in:
• Much larger, thicker, and richer leaves
• Deeper umami and natural sweetness
• Exceptionally high quality
🌿 Because of this careful cultivation, Yame tea is only harvested up to the second flush (Nibancha).
After that, the trees are allowed to rest and restore their strength for the next season.
This limited harvest and focused nurturing is one of the biggest reasons Yame tea is loved by connoisseurs worldwide for its luxurious depth and vibrant flavor.
We proudly source our premium Matcha and Gyokuro from Yame’s top tea masters.
